Services & Facilities at Claytons
Claytons first opened for business in Bedford’s Arcade in 1905. As an independent menswear shop it has served generations of the county’s shoppers – many members of the same family tell us that they came to Claytons to buy their first suit! In 2009, we moved to new spacious air-conditioned premises on the first floor of the Hatters Home & Style store on Goldington Road. There is plenty free parking at the front of the store and we are opposite Bedford’s Waitrose. (Busy customers tell us it’s now easy to combine food, clothes and gift shopping all in one trip!)
Things have changed a great deal over the years: We still supply well made suits to men of all ages but they can now buy stylish brands such as Barbour, Gant, Crew, Fynch Hatton and Giordano at the same time.
Trousers are a speciality. We’re proud to be one of the UK’s largest stocks of Meyer trousers. From easy fitting summer cottons, chinos and jeans to winter twills, wools and cords. We’re confident we have something to suit everyone. We also offer trousers from Bruhl, Gurteen and excellent denim jeans from Brax.
In 2005 we added a Womenswear Department which sells everything from well-priced contemporary designers like Gant, Barbour, Masai, Oui, Pomodoro, Crew, Gerry Weber and Olsen to dresses, shoes and fascinators for wedding guests, birthday girls – and anyone who likes a really nice frock! Add to this a stunning collection of contemporary jewellery, bags and scarves and you can easily refresh your wardrobe without breaking the bank. We also have a Women’s Shoe Department stocking your favourite brands including Geox, Gabor, HB Shoes, Peter Kaiser and many more.
We have a Wedding Suit Department where we offer everything the Groom and his party need for their outfits for the big day. Suits with contrasting waistcoats, tweed three-piece suits, shirts, ties, cufflinks and shoes. We also cater for boys from Age 1.
Those of you who prefer to shop online, we offer many of our great collections online. We aim to bring the best kind of independent shopping experience to your own home.
